    Er forschte in traditioneller Marokkanischer Musik. Dabei fiel ihm eine Aufnahme der Sängerin Amina Alaoui in die Hände. Sie stammt aus Marokko und beschäftigt sich intensiv mit der Musik des Al-Andalus. Sofort war Jon Balke fasziniert von Musik und Sängerin. Amina Alaoui singt diese sehr alte Musik unwahrscheinlich modern.
